The $100 nonresident fee

At 11 parks, each non-U.S. resident aged 16 or older pays a $100 nonresident fee on top of the standard entrance fee, unless admitted with an annual or America the Beautiful pass.

NPS Nonresident Fees, checked October 24, 2026

All valid America the Beautiful passes and park-specific annual passes cover entrance fees and nonresident fees for the pass holder and passengers in a private vehicle. The holder must be there.

NPS Nonresident Fees, checked October 28, 2026

At Zion, the $100 nonresident fee paid at entry covers the same 7-day entry period as the standard ticket. Keep your receipt for return visits within that period. A later entry period requires payment again unless a valid pass covers it.

Resident rates and identification

Living in the U.S. on a visa and bringing a valid state-issued driver's license or ID? Zion entry uses resident rates. A visa category by itself is not the eligibility test. This does not establish eligibility for Senior or Access passes.

NPS accepted residency documents, checked October 28, 2026The public FAQ lists proof for the resident America the Beautiful pass. The direct-entry clarification here applies to Zion.

Check your residency documents before choosing a pass.

Park annual pass

The Zion Annual Pass is valid only at Zion and may be purchased in person. This pass is valid for 12 months from purchase month. This pass admits the pass holder and passengers in a non-commercial vehicle. You can buy this entrance pass at all entrance stations.

Check the park’s own purchase eligibility and coverage terms before buying.

Reservations

The NPS data snapshot does not list an entry reservation here. This is not confirmation that none is needed. Check the park’s current requirements; campgrounds, roads and specific activities may need separate reservations.

In summer, temperatures in Zion National Park often exceed 100°F (38°C). Zion experiences monsoons from mid-July into September that result in an increased risk of flash floods. Getting there

Zion National Park's South Entrance and administrative offices are located near Springdale, Utah. This area, called Zion Canyon, is where most campsites and popular hikes are located. Zion Canyon can also be accessed through the park's East Entrance, which is west of Mt. Carmel Junction, Utah. Once inside the park, Zion Canyon can be explored via the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. For most of the year, the scenic drive is only open to shuttle busses. Board shuttles at the Zion Canyon Visitor Center.
