What changed
October 29, 2026
- Added direct answers to Badlands entrance-fee questions and Acadia pass questions, including ticket-period comparisons and who can buy each pass.
- Separated Acadia admission from Cadillac Summit Road reservations. The published reservation dates are labeled 2026; 2027 arrangements and Acadia's nonresident re-entry period remain unconfirmed.
October 28, 2026
- Added sourced answers to Shenandoah fee, Crater Lake pass and Everglades ticket questions before general sightseeing information.
- Corrected malformed Shenandoah fee dates that could omit entrance charges. Its park annual-pass coverage discrepancy remains explicit; larger groups are not promised coverage beyond the local terms.
- Replaced the blanket Crater Lake two-visit savings claim with seasonal comparisons. The shared $55 regional pass is counted once for a Crater Lake and Lassen Volcanic trip.
- Zion's $100 nonresident fee now uses its 7-day entry period without an uncertainty label. Other parks retain their own validity warning.
- Visa holders can specify valid state-issued identification. The calculator applies Zion resident entry rates and compares the resident America the Beautiful pass using accepted residency proof. State ID alone does not unlock Senior or Access passes.
- Updated the residency helper, shared-trip restoration and worked-example warnings. Zion's individual annual pass remains unavailable to nonresidents. No final 2027 reservation policy is inferred.
October 27, 2026
- Worked examples now label the $100 fee-validity assumption beside each affected gate estimate and recommended total, with a link explaining how re-entry charges could change the comparison. Pass prices and the calculation method are unchanged; the validity rule remains unconfirmed.
October 26, 2026
- Added the published 2026 fee-free calendar for eligible residents; nonresidents retain normal fees. Mixed-residency vehicle treatment is clearly marked as an estimate.
- New trips now require an explicit arrival date. Added mobile navigation, motion controls and links from each quote to park-specific reservations and current conditions.
- Correction: we had shown a park's own $70 annual pass as a possible option for groups from abroad, marked unconfirmed. Every park's fees page says these passes are sold to U.S. citizens and residents only, so the calculator now offers them only when a U.S. resident in the car can buy one.
- Checked fees by hand, including all 11 parks with the nonresident fee. Glacier has a lower winter rate (November 1 to April 30) that the NPS data feed leaves out; it's now included.
- The calculator now includes free passes (U.S. 4th graders, military, veterans and Gold Star families, permanent disability) and groups travelling in more than one vehicle.
- Every page now has a link to report a problem.
October 24, 2026
- First full check of all 63 park units against the NPS Data API.
- Chiricahua became the 64th national park on October 20, 2026. Its page is now listed.
