Do I count as a U.S. resident?
It decides whether you pay the $100 nonresident fee and whether you can buy the $80 pass.
Answers for each case
U.S. citizens
You pay resident prices, including if you live abroad. Bring a U.S. passport or a state driver's license or ID.
Green card holders
A Permanent Resident card is listed as proof of residency, so you pay resident prices.
Visa holders living in the U.S.
Living in the U.S. on a visa and bringing a valid state-issued driver's license or ID? Zion entry uses resident rates. A visa category by itself is not the eligibility test. This does not establish eligibility for Senior or Access passes.
For the $80 resident America the Beautiful pass, the national NPS FAQ lists state- or territory-issued driver's licenses and IDs among accepted residency documents. A visa label alone should not make you choose the $250 pass. Bring valid proof and matching photo ID.
Our calculator asks each visa holder which proof they can bring. It applies resident direct-entry rates at Zion when valid state ID is selected. Direct entry at other parks, or eligibility without this proof, still needs checking; those gate estimates remain marked. Senior and Access passes have separate citizenship or permanent-residency requirements.
Direct-entry pricing for visa holders without valid state-issued ID, and for visa holders at parks other than Zion, still needs checking. At Zion, select valid state ID to use resident entry rates. For the unresolved cases we retain a nonresident gate estimate. The resident America the Beautiful pass is compared separately using the national NPS accepted-ID list.
Visitors from abroad
You pay the $100 nonresident fee at 11 parks unless you enter with an annual pass. You can buy the $250 nonresident pass, or ride in a car with a U.S. resident who has a pass.
Children
Visitors aged 15 and under do not pay the nonresident fee.
Documents NPS accepts
NPS accepts a U.S. passport, a valid U.S. state- or territory-issued driver's license or ID, or a Permanent Resident card as residency proof for the resident America the Beautiful pass. Bring the original valid photo ID and show it when the pass is used.
Fee-free days
From 2026, fee-free days apply to U.S. citizens and residents only. Nonresidents pay the regular entrance fee and any nonresident fee.
